WELCOME TO YERU BÖN CENTER!

The teachings of Bön are as vital now as they were 18,000 years ago when the enlightened one, Tonpa Shenrab Miwoche, brought them to the land of Zhang Zhung in Central Asia and then to Tibet. We receive these precious teachings of compassion, wisdom, and healing known as Yungdrung Bön, the everlasting Bön, through an unbroken line of teachers. The fruit of the path is enlightenment not only for oneself, but for all sentient beings.

A weekend of yungdrung bon teachings with geshe yungdong

Friday, May 16, 2008 - 6:30pm Registration event 7-9pm

Emptiness
Generally, we waste our lives in endless activity: In completing, grasping, possessing and achieving, in intense and anxious struggles, forever burdening ourselves with external activities and pre occupations.  We project qualities onto the world.  When strong emotions arise, underneath is the assumption that there is something objective and real that you are holding onto.  Strong emotional responses assume the existence of some form of objective reality.

There is no reality, only perception; and these perceptions are the qualities you project onto external objects and/or people.  But they are only your perceptions, your prejudices, your thoughts, and your "sem" mind.

Realizing the view of Emptiness will liberate us from ignorance and the cycle of Samsaric existence.  It will improve our mind, but mainly it will help us learn how to free ourselves from the idea of self clinging and/or attachment.

Saturday May 17, 2008 - 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Yungdrung Bon tantra

Our natural ability to think in pictures can be used to deepen our meditation experiences.  Visualization is used in several ways in the Tibetan tradition of Spiritual Development and it is the basis used in the ritual practice of Tantra.

Many people have mistaken ideas of Buddhist Tantra.  Actually, all the images and ritual involved are intended to practice advanced techniques for training the mind and controlling subtle energies within one's body.  The union of male and female is symbolic for the union of method or compassion and wisdom: the union of bliss and emptiness.

The only correct motivation to practice tantra is Boddhicitta (Sanskrit) or Sem Kyed (Tibetan), or the wish to become fully enlightened in order to help all sentient beings.  For this reason, it is essential that we have at least an understanding of Boddhicitta.

Tantra is the most profound and rapid process of reaching enlihgenment.  The practices of this path involve identifying oneself completely, body and mind, with an enlightened being.  There are twoe stages to the practice of Tantra: the Generation Stage which involves visualizing self as a Buddha or deity, and the Completion Stage which requires manangeing energy flow in the body in order to support the non-dual awareness (wisdom) needed for enlightenment.

Geshe YongDong will share his knowledge on the practice of YngDrung Bon Tantra Ritual, which is suitable for students of all levels.  There will be practice sessions and time for questions & answers.
